英文原文OBJECTIVE
Inthisstudy,ouraimwastodeterminecardiovascularriskandcardiacfunctioninprediabeticobesechildrenandadolescents.
METHODS
Thestudywasconductedonobesechildrenandadolescents6-18yearsofage.Anthropometricmeasurements,bloodpressuremeasurements,oralglucosetolerancetest,lipidprofile,andHbA1clevelsofpatientswereassessed.PrediabeteswasdefinedaccordingtoAmericanDiabetesAssociationcriteria.Leftventricularmassindex(LVMi),carotidintima-mediathickness(c-IMT),andtissueDopplermeasurementsrecordswereused.
RESULTS
LVMiwasfoundtobesignificantlyhigherintheprediabetesgroup(p=0.03).TherewerenostatisticallysignificantdifferencesinrightventriculartissueDopplermeasurementsbetweentheprediabeticandnon-prediabeticgroups.LeftventriculartissueDopplermeasurementsweresignificantlyhigherintheprediabetesgroup:LVEEM(leftventricularE/eratio)(p=0.04);LVEM(leftventricularmyocardialvelocitycm/s)(p=0.).LVMiwasfoundtopositivelycorrelatewithtriglyceridelevel,diastolicbloodpressure,waistcircumference,bodyweightstandarddeviationscoreandtonegativelycorrelatewithhigh-densitylipoproteincholesterol(p=0.,r=0.15;p=0.,r=0.15;p=0.,r=0.17;p=0.,r=0.19;p=0.,r=-0.15,respectively).LVEMwascorrelatedwithglucose(p=0.,r=0.15)andLVEEMwascorrelatedwithsystolicbloodpressure(p=0.,r=0.15).Inlinearregressionanalysisforclinicalcardiovascularriskfactors,fastingglucoselevelwasthebestpredictorofLVEM.
CONCLUSION
